Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi on Monday said that his franchise’s foreign players including captain Darren Sammy were crying at the airport while leaving Pakistan after PSL Final.
Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Afridi said that Darren Sammy was of the view that he brought West Indies two world cup trophies but he never received the same amount of love and respect from his country which he received from Pakistan and Pakistanis.
He added that Marlon Samuels too was crying while departing from Lahore, despite being a strong guy.
“We need to pay a big tribute to them, and a national award should be conferred upon them, they supported us in this hour of test,” said the Zalmi owner.
Javed Afridi, whose team won the PSL 2017 by beating Quetta Gladiators in the final game of the league, said that the victory is not only of his team but the whole Pakistan and the other franchise owners too congratulated him on his team’s victory.
The Peshawar Zalmi captain and his team’s overseas players travelled to Lahore for the PSL final despite a number of international players opting out of the final due to security concerns.
