Sanjay Dutt was the talk of the town yesterday after the Bollywood actor made it home from jail. Dutt had served 42 months in jail for his 5-year long jail sentence and was visibly relieved to have made it out of prison. Upon being released, the actor spoke to media personnel and urged them not to talk about the infamous 1993 Mumbai blasts in connection to him.
“I want to request and if you all agree to it I will be grateful and thankful.. I am not a terrorist. I have been acquitted by the TADA court in bomb blasts case and conspiracy. I was convicted under Arms Act and this has been declared by the Supreme Court as well,” he said to scores of reporters who had gathered to hear him speak.
The Vaastav star reminded people
he had been convicted in the Arms Act whereas he had been acquitted of all charges by the TADA. “I have been acquitted from all charges under Section 120 B of IPC relating to conspiracy. I have been cleared of all charges by the TADA court. I was convicted in Arms Act,” he said.
The Bollywood superstar was released from the Yerawada Central prison yesterday after he had served his sentence. Reportedly, Bollywood actor Salman Khan had thrown him a lavish party in celebration of his release. Dutt, who has a massive fan following around the world in general and India in particular, is expected to resume his acting career.
Dutt had a final request for media personnel. “I request everyone not to mention 1993 bomb blast while writing about me because I was not involved in it.”
