Sartaj Aziz writes to world institutions to take notice of Kashmir

Aziz wrote letters to the Secretary-General United Nations Ban Ki-Moon and the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani, along the President of the UN Security Council and the UN Human Rights Commission.

He expressed deep concern over the alarming situation in the Kashmir. He reminded that the UN has a long-standing responsibility and commitment to resolve the Kashmir issue which is still pending despite the passage of more almost seven decades.

Moreover, the Foreign Office briefed the ambassadors of various countries from the Middle East and Afria. Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry apprised the envoys of the atrocities and human rights by Indian forces in the valley.

He said that 40 people have been killed and two thousand injured in clashes since the last one week, and urged that the international community should take notice of it.
