Sattar demands handing over of Khursheed Memorial Hall to MQM-P

KARACHI: Chief Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan Farooq Sattar on Monday said his party should be handed over Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall, former MQM secretariat, because MQM-P has no resources to buy a big bungalow for new office.

“Khursheed Memorial Hall, a vast building near former MQM headquarters in Azizabad, belongs to masses and MQM-P. Even if there is some issue with handing it over then we are okay without it, but at least we should be given offices of Bahadurabad and Gulshan-e-Iqbal to run party activities,” he said while exclusively talking to an ARY News program ‘Off The Record’.

He said MQM-P had a small office in a modest area of PIB Colony to run affairs of a big party.

To a query, he said his party had run out of all the funds following the incident of August 22 due to several reasons.

“We did have reserve funds earned through Zakat, Fitra, animal hides and other charities,” he said.

Upon which, ‘Off The Record’ host Kashif Abbasi quoted former governor Sindh from MQM Ishrat ul Ebad Khan as saying that MQM was a mafia that was run on extortion money.

Trying to defend his party from this allegation, Farooq Sattar in his equivocal style admitted that MQM men and people on MQM’s name used to take extortion money from people. Then, the MQM-P chief also tried to cover up his own statement.
