ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday constituted a two members bench for hearing the case of torture on a young housemaid by a sitting judge’s family, ARY News reported.
Chief Justice SC Mian Saqib Nisar will head the bench which will hear the case in an open court on Friday. The CJ has asked Islamabad Police to request the 10-year-old victim, Tayyaba, and her heirs to appear before court for the hearing.
Registrar Islamabad High Court (IHC) also submitted a detailed report today at the apex court on the incident.
The SC on Monday taook a suo motu notice of the case after a man claiming to be father of the 10-year-old maid pardoned the judge’s family.
“Notice was taken on media reports that the minor maid servant was allegedly brutally beaten up and she was given stroke with ladle, her hands were burnt and reportedly matter has been patched up and compromised,” said a statement issued by Public Relations Officer of the apex court Shahid Hussain Kamboyo
On the other hand, Human rights activist Asma Jahangir has also filed a petition on behalf of the civil society seeking to make the judge and his wife a party in the case.

While, District Magistrate Islamabad hadwritten a letter to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences administration ordering the formation of a new medical board to ascertain the facts in the torture case.
The pictures of Tayyaba went viral on social media earlier this month with internet users claiming that the maid works in an additional session judge Khurram Ali Khan’s house and is tortured by the judge’s family.
When recovered by police, Tayyaba said that she was not tortured but fell from stairs but in the statement recorded for the First Information Report (FIR), the ten-year-old claimed that she was brutally tortured by the judge’s family where she has been living for past two years.
However, a man claiming to be Tayyaba’s father pardoned the judge’s family appeared in the court on Tuesday and pardoned the judge’s family.
