SC orders constitution of task force for protection of minorities

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Thursday ordered constitution of a special task force for protection of the rights of the religious minorities in the country, ARY News reported.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani announced its verdict today.

The court had started the hearing on the rights of the religious minorities in the country after attack on a church in Peshawar, which had claimed dozens of innocent lives.

The task force will work for promotion of religious tolerance and protection of the rights of the minorities in the country, the bench said in its judgment.

The bench also ordered the federal government to constitute a council, which will ensure protection of the worship places of the religious minorities.

The court in its verdict also ordered introduction of a curriculum in schools  which promotes religious tolerance and harmony in Pakistan.
