PESHAWAR: A security personnel was martyred while another wounded in a blast caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Khyber Agency on Sunday morning.
Security officials said that an IED went off in Sheen Drang area of the Khyber Agency, leaving two security personnel critically injured. One of them later succumbed to his injuries.
They said that the contingent of security forces reached the spot immediately after the blast and launched search operation while cordoning off the area.
The deceased and injured personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Earlier on July 14, the security forces had foiled a terror bid by two suicide bombers to storm Frontier Constabulary (FC)’s camp in Khyber Agency’s Jarobi area on Pak-Afghan border.
The Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) said that the terrorists from across the border tried to attack Misthara post located near Pak-Afghan border on which FC personnel effectively responded and engaged with the attackers, shooting dead one of the suicide bomber at entrance of the camp.
In retaliatory firing by FC personnel, the second attacker blew himself up near the entrance of the camp after failing to storm the post, ISPR statement further said.
Two FC personnel also sustained injuries while foiling the terror bid. The injured personnel were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar for medical treatment.
