Severance is officially returning for a third season, bringing more mystery and suspense to Apple TV+. The news was revealed as the season two finale, Cold Harbour, premiered today (21 March).

Fans have eagerly awaited an update, and now they can look forward to another chapter in the hit sci-fi thriller.

Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed the renewal in a social media exchange with executive producer Ben Stiller, writing, “Season 3 of Severance available on request.”

The announcement follows Severance surpassing Ted Lasso as Apple TV+’s most-watched series, hitting a peak of 681 million minutes viewed in one week.

Stiller reassured fans they will not have to wait another three years for the next season, as was the case between the first and second seasons.

The series follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott), an employee at Lumon Industries, where workers undergo a procedure that splits their memories between work and personal life. As Mark uncovers Lumon’s dark secrets, his reality is thrown into question.

Season two introduced new characters and answered key mysteries about Lumon’s operations, keeping viewers on edge.

The Severance cast includes Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette.

It also featured Sarah Bock, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and a surprise voice cameo from Keanu Reeves.

Severance is created by Dan Erickson, with Stiller, Scott, and Arquette among the executive producers.

Stiller, who directed multiple episodes, joked, “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making season three will be equally enjoyable.”

Scott expressed his excitement for the new season, while Erickson promised more intrigue and suspense. Apple TV+ programming head Matt Cherniss praised the team’s work, calling it “undeniable magic.”

With season three confirmed, Severance fans can prepare for another thrilling journey into the mysteries of Lumon Industries.
