Shah deplores unfair treatment with PPP leaders facing graft charges

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday lashed out at “unfair treatment” with the PPP leaders who are facing corruption charges.

The Sharifs were facing grave charges of corruption, but they were neither being nabbed nor were their names placed on the no-fly list, however, on the other hand, Sharjeel Memon, who voluntarily surrendered before the court, didn’t get justice, Shah said while speaking to the media.

He said it was a test case for the Supreme Court as double standards won’t be allowed to be displayed towards the party leaders.

Shah said he was saddened that there were dual laws for the two provinces – one for Sindh and other for Punjab.

Taking a swipe at political opponents, he said the PPP’s public gathering in Islamabad has upset those who would take pride in attracting mammoth crowds in their rallies.

Shah said Islamabad’s Parade Ground was packed to capacity with PPP supporters and half the crowd was present outside the venue. Hundreds of thousands of supporters got stuck on the National Highway and couldn’t make it to the venue, he claimed.

The opposition leader said the PPP was moving ahead with a new vision and leadership and its chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will follow in the footsteps of the PPP founder, Zulifqar Ali Bhutto.
