According to details, Shahbaz Sharif chaired a cabinet meeting here Thursday to review arrangements in Ramazan Bazaars. Provincial ministers, chief secretary and all the divisional commissioners joined the meeting through video conference. The CM conveyed his strong displeasure to the provincial administration over poor quality of food particularly fruits available in Ramazan Bazaars where the government has announced subsidy of Rs 5 billion.
Taking stern notice of the failure of DCOs of nine districts to visit Ramazan Bazaars and check quality of food, he reprimanded the district administration for providing substandard fruits to the public on higher rates.
He also increased subsidy from Rs 10 to Rs 20 on pulses in these subsidized
markets. The chief minister directed all DCOs and DPOs to regularly visit the fruit markets in their districts concerned and monitor the auction process of fruits for Ramazan Bazaars. The DPOs and DCOs would send picture marking their presence in the auction process through Dash Boards to the provincial government.
The Punjab CM also directed all the ministers to visit these bazaars in their respective districts and monitor quality of food and their prices. The ministers were also asked to submit their report to the provincial government on regular basis.
Moreover, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has also opened a control room in the Civil Secretariat to monitor the performance of Ramazan Bazaars.
