KARACHI: Star all rounder Shahid Afridi became a part of Karachi Kings squad and will play next Pakistan Super League from the team, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
The former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who is also the president of the most popular PSL team Karachi Kings, today formally joined the team’s squad for next PSL.
Termed the “BLOCKBUSTER Trade of The Year”, Karachi Kings clinched Boom Boom Afridi in return for their Gold and Silver pick.
The news was welcomed by Karachi Kings fans as Shahid Khan Afridi is not only a crowd puller but one of the most amazing cricketers Pakistan produced in years.
Back in April, Shahid Khan Afridi left Peshawar Zalmi and joined Karachi Kings as the team’s president.
Nicknamed ‘Boom Boom’, Afridi had been a fan favourite since he burst onto the scene in 1996, striking a 37-ball one-day century against Sri Lanka in only his second match to set a world record that was unbeaten for 18 years.
He became known as a leg-spin bowling all-rounder in the second half of his career and was instrumental in Pakistan’s early successes in T20I, including the 2009 T20 World Cup.
Just recently, Shahid Afridi has blasted 101 from only 43 balls to inspire English County Hampshire’s huge win over Derbyshire in the quarter-finals of England’s T20 competition.
