ISLAMABAD: Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif is presiding over a key meeting of party leaders today at Punjab House, ARY News reported.
According to sources in the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), party’s national and provincial assemblies members and other party leaders had been directed to arrive at Punjab House.
The meeting will discuss political situation emerging in the wake of NAB court proceedings in graft references against the Sharif family and former prime minister’s possible departure for London to tend his ailing wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
He is also expected to hold a key press conference after the party huddle.
Earlier, Sharif made his maiden appearance before the NAB court in connection with
three graft references filed against him and other members of his family.
The court had also summoned members of his family, including Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz and her husband retired Capt Safdar, but they did not appear today since they are still in London in connection with treatment of their mother Kulsoom Nawaz.
After spending about a month in the United Kingdom with his ailing wife, Sharif had landed on Monday at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad. Subsequently, the former prime minister had lengthy discussion with his close aides and party leaders all the day at Punjab House.
