Sharjeel, Khalid Latif soon to be indicted in spot-fixing: chairman PCB

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan on Thursday said opening batsmen of Pakistan Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif will soon be indicted in the case of spot-fixing in ongoing Pakistan Super League 2017.

Shahryar Khan said until now only informal talks were conducted with the players suspected of involvement in spot-fixing. The players would be formally approached within a couple of days to avoid legal complications, he said while talking to media persons.

He said both the players had asked for time to discuss with their families.

The chairman PCB said the time (sought to discuss with their families) had ended now and they would be formally indicted in the case in a couple of days.

“We should be vigilant that our legal process is complete and our stance is watertight,” he said.

To a query, he said the logic behind indicting was that PCB wanted them to talk on record as the formal discussion would be recorded in video.

Sources said earlier today, anti-corruption unit of PCB sent a legal notice to the opening batsmen and confiscated cell phones from their possession.

Sources said both the players were under investigation.
