RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed on Friday termed court’s verdict in Avenfield reference case as the end to Nawaz Sharif family’s political career, ARY News reported.
“A political bigwig has been sentenced to imprisonment for the first time in Pakistan’s history,” he remarked while talking to media.
Sheikh Rasheed said that now the former premier wanted those masses to take to streets, whom his government did not provide even basic facilities.
“It is crystal clear that Maryam Nawaz forged signature in the Panama Papers case. All the documents were forged by her,” he claimed saying that he was witnessing the court hearing.
An accountability court has sentenced Nawaz Sharif to
ten years in prison and fined him eight million pounds. His daughter, Maryam Safdar, has been sentenced to seven years in prison, while son-in-law retired Captain Safdar has been sentenced to one year in prison.In a reaction to the court verdict, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Jahangir Khan Tareen wrote on his social media account, “NS (Nawaz Sharif)’s fabricated narrative that he got ousted only for holding an Iqama, has been torn to shreds after NAB Court’s historic verdict. ‘Mujhe Kyun Nikala Sharif’ finally gets the answer that he has been jailed for being a chor (thief) & a money launderer. Great victory for Pakistan.”
