Shiv Sena activists storm BCCI Headquarters:

Members of Shiv Sena on Monday stormed the Indian cricket board office at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai to protest against presence of Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan.

According to Indian media reports, Khan and Chief PCB executive committee Najam Sethi have been in India in a bid to convince the BCCI to confirm the bilateral cricket series in December.

Shiv Sena members stormed into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office protesting its president Shashank Manohar’s meeting with the chief of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shahryar Khan, to discuss the fate of bilateral series.

According to the news agency ANI, the Shiv Sena workers barged into the BCCI office holding anti-Pakistan placards and shouted slogans saying “Shahryar Khan wapis jao“.

Scores of the party members were detained by police during the protest against the presence of Pakistani cricket officials.

Former top officials of Pakistan Cricket Board and others have condemned the incident. PCB ex-chief Lt Gen (retd) Tauqir Zia says in Pakistan we never treat our guests like this — the Indians should have provided security to our cricket officials.

Another ex chief of PCB Arif Ali Khan Abbasi commented “what else do you expect from the Shiv Sena?”

MNA from garrison city of Rawalpindi Sheikh Rashid has said that the PCB chief should not have gone to India at all and that this was an insult to Pakistan.

The right-wing party has been protesting anything that has to do with Pakistan, and the proposed series is the latest in the series.

Earlier this month, the Shiv Sena had protested the book launch of former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri, and its members threw ink on the face of the organiser Sudheendra Kulkarni.
