According to a report in Emirates247, recent protests by Shiv Sena seem to have jeopardized the promotions of two films – ‘Raees’ directed by Rahul Dholakia starring Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira and filmmaker Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Senior Shiv Sena leaders are adamant that they wont let Pakistani actors in the film – Mahira Khan (‘Raees’) and Fawad Khan (‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’) – promote the film in Maharashtra.
Film promotions in Mumbai are sacrosanct for a film’s success these days with the entire international media looking for Bollywood content from this entertainment capital of India.
“We have taken a stand not to allow any Pakistani actor, cricketer or performer to step on Maharashtra soil,” says a report citing Akshay Bardapurkar, general Secretary of the Shiv Sena Chitrapat Sena, the film wing of the Shiv Sena.
Bardapurkar had earlier prevented Pakistani legend and singer Ghulam Ali from performing in Mumbai a few days ago and got his concert cancelled.
