Shutter down strike against killing of two youth in occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Complete shutter down strike is being observed In Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), today against the martyrdom of PhD scholar Dr Sabzar Ahmad Sofi and Asif Ahmad Gojri by the occupation forces in Srinagar.

The strike call against the killings, was given by Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik jointly.

Earlier, thousands of people hailing from various sections of the society attended funeral prayers of martyred Dr Sabzar Ahmad Sofi in the held valley.

Yesterday, the two young Kashmiri were martyred by the Indian occupation forces in Srinagar.

The two martyrs were later identified as Dr Sabzar Ahmed Sofi and Asif Ahmed Gojri, who were killed during a cordon and search operation at Sothu Kothair in Nowgam area of Srinagar

Soon after, massive protests broke out in the area against the killings. People took to the streets and chanted high-pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Indian police and troops lobbed teargas shells to disperse the protesters.

Indian authorities suspended internet services in Srinagar and Budgam districts and ordered closure of educational institutions in Srinagar to prevent protest against killings.

It is worth mentioning here that Dr Sabzar Ahmed Sofi is the third PhD Kashmiri who fell to Indian state terrorism in last six months. Earlier, Indian troops martyred Dr Muhammad Rafi Butt, a Professor of Kashmir University, and Dr Mannan Wani, a scholar in geology from Aligarh Muslim University.
