Sindh Assembly condemns ban on ARY News

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly on Monday condemned the ban on ARY News transmissions and demanded withdrawal of the order.

Sindh Information Minister speaking on the issue in the house said the government of Sindh condemned ban on ARY News and called it against the democratic values.

Sharjeel Memon speaking at the floor of Sindh Assembly today opposed 15 days ban on ARY News transmissions by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and said the channel was banned because it exposed the truth of the Lahore incident.

He said the government will table a resolution in Sindh Assembly against imposition of ban on transmissions of news channels.

He said Pakistan People’s Party has been against curbs on the media and freedom of expression.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Syed Sardar Ahmed speaking over the issue demanded restoration of the transmissions of ARY News.

Shaharyar Mahar, the leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly, he said the ban on ARY News is violation of the freedom of press.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member Samar Ali Khan also vehemently condemned the ban on ARY News.
