Sindh Cabinet extends Rangers’ powers for 90 days

KARACHI: Sindh government on Saturday extended special powers granted to Rangers force in the province for 90 days, ARY News reported.

According to details, a cabinet meeting under Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah decided to extend powers granted to the paramilitary force under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

During the meeting, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah also praised Rangers’ performance in the province and their ability to deal with extortionists, criminal gangs and target killers.

He added that police’s performance too has improved and the provincial government is making efforts to make them more efficient and is looking to provide them special training to achieve this end.

The policing powers granted to Rangers in the province expired on April 15.
