Holding a press conference here on Wednesday, DIG Traffic Ameer Ahmed Sheikh told that more than 18000 school buses pace the roads in Karachi and directed the van drivers to take care of the self-respect of children.
He added the date of all such buses and vans is being compiled and directed the schools and colleges administration to get their vehicles registered in a month.
DIG Ameer Sheikh said that no kind of gas cylinders can be installed in school vans and directed the schools management to ensure that the buses are not overloaded.
The drivers of school buses/vans were further directed to get their vehicles colored yellow with the name of institute written and to have a helper for embarking/disembarking children safely.
He warned that an action will be taken against vehicles not abiding by the instructions from August 21.

DIG Sheikh further urged school administration, parents, transporters and citizens to help the Traffic Police in this regard, adding, “These are our children and their safety must be our top priority”.
