Post-Kasur incident: CM Sindh sets up special desk to deal with crimes against children

KARACHI: Keeping in view the inhumane Kasur incident, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday ordered to set up a separate desk at CM House Complaint Cell to entertain complaints of crime against children, particularly what he termed as ‘sexual terrorism’ against children.

The chief minister said that our society is degenerating and it is painful that Islamic values and the those of humanity such as love and affection for children and respect for elders are fading away.

“The Kasur incident is a big question mark on the face of our society,” he said.

He ordered setting up of a separate desk in the Complaint Cell of the CM House where complaints of crime against children would be entertained.

He directed the complaint cell duty officer to forward such complaints to the concerned police station, and also send him on his WhatsApp number so that prompt, coordinate and strict action could be taken. “I have given clear instructions to the police to deal such cases as terrorism cases,” he said.

CM Sindh directed the chief secretary to coordinate with education department to educate children against sexual assaults and such other crimes.

“I believe it is sexual terrorism against children and such criminals would be booked accordingly,” he said.

He also directed the chief secretary to invite recommendations from experts and civil society to include separate chapters on ‘sexual terrorism’ against children in textbooks. “This is a serious issue and we all, parents, teachers and civil society have to control it with our collective efforts,” he said adding it is our prime duty to protect children.

The society, particularly the parents should also be educated for protection of their children. He said that he is worried after this incident and needs support and guidance to educate the society against this kind of terrorism,” he said.
