KARACHI: Fire tenders extinguished a large blaze in Karachi’s SITE area after 14 hours long fire fighting effort, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
Around 30 fire engines including fire tenders of Pakistan Navy participated to put out a major blaze defined as a category three blaze, in the industrial area godown.
The owner of the warehouse has called the blaze not an accident but an incident of sabotage.
The fire that broke out on Monday afternoon could not be controlled till the nightfall. The authorities have to call fire tenders from across the city to combat the blaze, sources said.
A fire brigade official, on the condition of anonymity, said that required chemical was not available to extinguish the blaze.
Non-availability of proper fire fighting machinery and scarcity of fire tenders also hamper the fire fighting efforts.
No human casualty reported in the incident, sources said. The cause of fire and volume of losses yet to be ascertained.
