ISLAMABAD: Turkish authorities have confirmed that they rescued six kidnapped Pakistani nationals from Istanbul, ARY News reported on Thursday.
A press release by Foreign Office (FO) stated that Turkish police authorities have confirmed to the Consulate General of Pakistan in Istanbul that after necessary action today.
The six rescued Pakistanis were identified as Fazal Amin, Adil Ahmad, Muhammad Zeeshan, Abid, Usman Ali and Ashbar Ahmad.
The Turkish authorities are completing the legal formalities to deal with the issue. The officials of the Consulate General of Pakistan are in contact with the police authorities and have sought access to the rescued Pakistanis.
“We express our gratitude to the Turkish Government and the relevant authorities for their timely action and cooperation in the matter,” the release read.
Turkish authorities had carried out raids in different parts of the country after Pakistani officials had informed that several of its nationals have been kidnapped by traffickers for ransom.
It is said that the Pakistani officials were abducted by Kurds whereas several Pakistanis were facilitating the kidnappers.
It is pertinent to mention that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two suspected human traffickers during separate raids in Punjab and recovered Rs. 0.3 million.
The suspects named Junaid and Naveed had tricked a person named Saeed, a native of Toba Tek Singh, into giving Rs. 0.3 million for an employment opportunity in African country of Libya. Saeed did not get the job nor his money back after the payment.
FIA, after receiving information of the incident, arrested Naveed from Toba Tek Singh and Junaid from Uchra area of Lahore.
