Lawyer Muhammad Azhar Siddique who had filed the reference with others has challenged the Speaker’s ruling in Supreme Court.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq giving ruling over the reference, said that the National Assembly’s August 29 debate reveals that the charges in the reference were factually incorrect.
The Speaker in his ruling said that the reference being legally and factually baseless does not result in any disqualification under Article 63(2) of the constitution adding that he decline to refer it to the ECP.
Ruling Challenged in Court
Lawyer Muhammad Azhar Siddique who had filed the reference with others has challenged Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s ruling in Supreme Court.
The petitioner contended that the Speaker was not empowered to reject the reference.
