SRB claims collection of record sales tax on services in Jan

KARACHI: The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) says it has collected a record amount of Rs.9.5 billion as Sindh Sales Tax on services during the month of January 2018, as compared to the collection of Rs.6.0 billion made during the corresponding month of January last year.

According to Sindh government handout, advisor (Tax Policy) SRB  S. Mushtaq Kazimi stated that this growth was achieved as a result of relentless efforts made by officers of the SRB on account of the recovery drive and payment of areas of tax.

“With this achievement during January 2018, the total collection of Sindh Sales Tax

during the first seven month of 2017-18 amount of Rs.47.3 billion as compare to the collection of Rs.40.4 billion during the corresponding seven months of 2016-17, thus representing growth of 17%,” he added.

It is pertinent that the standard rate of sales tax on services in Sindh is 13%, which is the lowest standard rate of sales tax in Pakistan.

Kazimi said that Sindh Revenue Board acknowledges the active and positive cooperation of the tax payers in enabling SRB to achieve remarkable growth and assures to continue its cooperation facilitation and assistance to its worthy registered tax payers.
