KARACHI: A suicide bomber blew himself on Saturday after an attempted attack on a checkpost of the Pakistan Rangers near Hub in Balochistan, ARY News reported.
The incident occurred near the town of Hub bordering the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan. A checkpost of the Pakistan Rangers was reportedly fired by an unknown suspect.
The paramilitary retailed and fired at the suspect after which he blew himself. As a result, one Rangers officer was injured in the incident.
An initial report by the Rangers said that paramilitary officers stopped a suspect pedestrian during snap checking at a checkpost in the area.
The suspect immediately opened fired, and in the retaliatory fire, his suicide vest blew up. A Rangers spokesman said that the suspect intended to attack the checkpost but was unsuccessful.
He said the injured security officers were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while law enforcement agencies have increased presence in the area.
