Suicide bomber who attacked Haroon Bilour identified, KP police informs Senate body

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on Thursday told a Senate body that the suicide bomber who attacked Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haroon Bilour, a week ago in Peshawar, has been identified as a resident of Hangu, ARY News reported.

In a briefing to Senate Standing Committee on Interior on developments in the case, police officials have also said that they had got clues leading to abetters of the incident and soon the facilitators would be arrested.

Haroon Bilour was among 21 people who were killed and 75 others were injured during a suicide blast in Peshawar’s Yakatut . He was campaigning for the upcoming elections when a suicide attacker reportedly entered a corner meeting leader and blew himself up. The ANP leader was contesting polls from PK-78 constituency of Peshawar.

Bilour’s father, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, too had lost his life in a 2012 suicide bomb explosion in the Qissa Khwani bazar. He was the eldest son of Bashir Bilour and was contesting elections from the same constituency as his late father.

Balochistan police also on Thursday revealed that the suicide bomber behind the Mastung carnage had been identified.

Briefing the Senate Standing Committee proceedings, Balochistan Police Inspector General Mohsin Butt informed the body that bomber was  identified as Hafiz Nawaz, a resident of Abbottabad.
