Mahmood Khan Achakzai

Mahmood Khan Achakzai is a Pashtun nationalist and the chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.

Achakzai was born on 14 December 1948to Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai who started a non-violence movement against British imperialism and was even jailed by the government of Pakistan for secessionist activities.

After his father was assassinated in a bomb attack in Quetta in December 1973, he took control of the reins of the party. He completed his BSc in Engineering in 1971 from University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar.

He was the only party member representing Pakhtun nationalist interests during the 2002 elections from the province, which was dominated by MuttahidaMajlis-e-Amal (MMA).
