Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali is an English all round cricketer, who was born on June 18, 1987 in Birmingham, England. He is a left-handed batsman and a right arm off break bowler. He was named as the one of the Cricketers of the Year in 2015 in Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.

Ali came into the limelight when he was just 15 years old after he scored runs for Warwickshire Second XI. Ali made his first-class debut against Cambridge University in 2005 and got selected in the national squad for the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was the captain of his team and scored three half centuries and took seven wickets..

After playing for Warwickshire, he moved to Worcestershire in 2009. He hit his highest first-class score of 250 for them against Glamorgan. In the 2013 season, he scored 1375 runs, which included four centuries and eight half centuries. Besides that, he also took 28 wickets and was named as PCA Player of the Year.

Moeen Ali opened the innings for England alongside Ian Bell during the 2015 World Cup. Barring his century (128 off 107) against Scotland, Moeen didn’t make any substantial contribution and the conditions Down Under limited his role as a bowler – despite he being the main spinner. A side strain ruled him out of England’s final match of the competition.
