Sutlej river

River Sutlej located in the east of Okara city is formed from a Lake Rakshastal which is an autonomous lake from Tibet. The river is 1448 kilometer in length Nawab of Bahawalpur constructed a vast network of canals from the river for irrigations purpose.

Due to Indus water treaty signed by Pakistan and India the all rights of river were given to India after the agreement the Indian government had built many dams on the coast of the river and production more than 450,000 kilo watt electricity. The water is also being now used for the agriculture purposes.

Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan are using these waters for their irrigation system. River Sutlej only gets its water when India release its flood water into the river as the country is now only using this river as the flood relief river.
