Tahirul Qadri returns to Pakistan

LAHORE: Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Tahirul Qadri received warm welcome from his party workers when he landed at Lahore airport in a flight from Oslo, ARY News reported.

Party leaders received Dr. Qadri at Allama Iqbal Airport of Lahore when he arrived on Tuesday morning.

A large number of PAT supporters had gathered around the airport to welcome their leader while police contingent was also deployed to tackle any untoward incident.

Talking to media at airport on his return to Pakistan, Tahirul Qadri said that he had come back to seek justice for the victims of Model Town incident.

PAT leader said that he will announce his future strategy after consultations with party leaders.

In January this year, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri had demanded the release of Justice Baqar Najafi Commission Report on Model Town incident.

Qadri said that his party will continue their struggle for justice and Qisas of the victims. He added that the elements — held responsible for the incident in the commission’s report — should be exposed.

“The rulers will not be able to protect those who shed the blood of innocent people,” he had said.

In June 2014, at least seven people, including members of the PAT, were killed during a clash between the party workers and policemen in Model Town of Lahore.

Dozens of others were injured in the clashes that had broken out when police went to the party’s headquarters in Model Town and PAT activists resisted their operations.
