The veteran Irish actor, Ray Stevenson, best known for films like ‘Punisher: War Zone’, ‘King Arthur’, and ‘Thor’, passed away on Sunday, at the age of 58.
The death of Ray Stevenson was confirmed by his publicist to a foreign-based tabloid, four days before his 59th birthday, without revealing the cause. However, he was hospitalized after contracting a mystery illness on the Italian island while filming for his upcoming movie.

At the time of death, Stevenson was shooting for the action flick ‘Cassino in Ischia’.
Born in Northern Ireland in May 1964, Stevenson began his acting career with TV appearances, before he finally landed breakthrough action roles in Hollywood films. His first major outing came in Antoine Fuqua’s ‘King Arthur’
(2004).
A couple of years later, Stevenson bagged the starring role in the Marvel title, ‘Punisher: War Zone’. The veteran was greatly known for his portrayal of Asgardian hero Volstagg, one of the allies to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in three of the four film series.
He was last seen in South-Indian filmmaker, S.S. Rajamouli’s Oscar-winning magnum-opus ‘RRR’, playing the evil Governor Scott Buxton, and was set to star in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ series ‘Ahsoka’.
