KARACHI: In the post Panamagate verdict, the political parties have intensified their campaigns as three mainstream parties to demonstrate power show here on Sunday by holding separate rallies against the government, ARY News reported.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have separately announced to hold rallies.
In its campaign against the federal government, the PPP activists protested against power load-shedding, water and gas shortage.
Six rallies were taken out from six districts of Karachi beside the main rally at National Highway. The party activists with slogans ‘Give Water and Electricity’ alongside ‘Go Nawaz Go’ have already taken to roads.
MQM rally for rights of Karachi
Separately, MQM-P has announced to hold a rally from Liaquatabad to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, which will be addressed by Dr. Farooq Sattar and other members of the parties coordination committee.
MQM-P leader Amir Khan has said that the rally is against biased attitude and discriminatory policies of Sindh government towards urban areas of the province, and will expose the corruption of the PPP.
MQM-P leader Faisal Sabzawari said that PPP has turned Karachi into the ‘stone-age’ since the last eight years, while opposition leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan said that a swarm of people will attend the rally.
The protest call has the backing of Mustafa Kamal led Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and Afaq Khan’s Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H).
PML-N observes day of gratitude
Meanwhile, the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will mark ‘Thanksgiving Day’ in Karachi by holding a rally at Shara-e-Faisal to celebrate the Panama case verdict.
Heavy contingent of traffic police has been deployed to avoid disruption on the M.A. Jinnah road and other adjacent areas, while six station house officers (SHOs) will monitor the rallies.
