Turkish FM calls on Gen Bajwa

RAWALPINDI: Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters here on Friday.

A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the focus of the discussion between the visiting Turkish minister and the COAS remained on Pak-Turkey relations, regional security including emerging situation in the Middle East, management of defence and security cooperation between both the countries.

Turkish FM acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to conflict prevention in the region and also pledged to keep working for better relations between the two brotherly countries.

Earlier, the visiting minister met his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi at the Foreign Office where the two held delegation talks.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal, both the sides pledged to continue partnership for regional peace and stability.

“Both the countries are tied in inseparable bonds of people to people affection based on common faith & objectives and shared destinies as members of Islamic world,” the spokesperson said.
