Umar Akmal, who has been notorious for a couple of controversies over the past few years, was slapped with a ban for the opening T20 match against New Zealand, which is scheduled to take place on January 15.
Umar Akmal was handed the ban due to his violation of the dress code of conduct. According to details, Akmal did not adhere to proper clothing guidelines during the Quaid-e-Azam trophy match, which took place earlier this week. Pakistan cricket team manager Intikhab Alam confirmed the news and said:-
“PCB has informed us that Umar Akmal was handed one-match ban by the match referee last week in Karachi for breach of code,” he said. “The suspension applies to the next game regardless of whatever the format and level is, and we are not going to play him in first T20 against New Zealand but he will be available for next games.”
