US wants end to violence in Kashmir, says McCain

ISLAMABAD:  The United States Senator John McCain on Sunday said US wanted end to violence in Kashmir, ARY News reported.

“The US will continue its policy regarding Kashmir issue and no change has been made in this regard. Kashmir issue should be resolved in peaceful way through negotiation,” he said while talking to state television (PTV) in Islamabad.

He said Pakistan has a significant role for establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

McCain said peace and stability in Afghanistan was not possible without Pakistan’s help.

A delegation of US senate (Armed Services Committee) headed by Senator John McCain earlier called on Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz today. Views were exchanged on matters of bilateral interest and overall situation in the region.

The delegation included John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Sheldon Whitehouse, Elizabeth Warren, and David Perdue.

John McCain has assured to regularly visit Pakistan to strengthen ties between both the countries. He also lauded sacrifices of Pakistan armed forces against terrorism.

Sartaj Aziz in his concluding remarks said Pakistan-US strategic partnership was critical to achieve peace in region.
