Vehicle of sessions judge targeted in Diamer, no casualties reported

DIAMER: The vehicle of a district and sessions judge came under attack in Daryal area of Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on Sunday as the assailants opened fire at judge Malik Inayat’s vehicle, police notified.

There were no casualties reported during the incident. Malik Inayat and his family members remained unhurt in the attack, the police told.

The sessions judge and his family were on their way to attend the funeral prayers of police official Arif Hussain, who lost his life on Saturday during a search operation in the area.

The police official was martyred in a clash during the search operation which was launched to arrest those who were behind setting ablaze over a dozen girls’ schools on Thursday night.

Soon after the incident of burning down schools in the area, the police has been actively raiding the vicinity in a bid to arrest suspects involved in the attack on GB schools.

Gilgit-Baltistan police said 31 suspects have been arrested so far for involvement in the attack.
