Vote in Jacobabad by-election underway under stringent security measures

The seat fell vacant after the death of Peoples Party MPA Sardar Muqeem Khoso.

A tough three-pronged contest is expected between the PPP, Muslim League-Nawaz and Tehreek-e-Insaf candidates.

The PPP has given ticket to Orangzaib Panhwar, a son of Sardar Manzoor Panhwar, to contest the election. The runner-up of previous election Alam Abro, who had lost the contest with slim margin, is contesting on the ticket of PML-N.

The PTI has fielded Raja Khan Jakhrani in the election.

There are 145,957 votes registered in the constituency, including 77,610 men and 68,347 women voters, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), said.

Stringent security measures have been taken in the constituency with deployment of Police and Rangers for smooth running of the polls.
