Wajid Zia takes helm as IG Railways Police

ISLAMABAD: The head of Joint Investigation team (JIT) in high-profile Panama case, Wajid Zia, has taken charge as Railways Police Inspector General (IGP) on Monday.

According to details, Wajid Zia, a grade 21 officer, was previously serving as Additional Director in the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA). He has now been transferred to the Railway Police department.

Wajid Zia had headed one of the eminent JITs of the country which probed the monetary dealings of Nawaz Sharif and his family in the Panama case on the orders of Supreme Court.

The findings of the Zia led JIT turned out to be one of the key factors that deposed the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif from the office.

After taking helm of the department, Zia vowed to improve the Railway sector all over the country with his utmost dedication and efforts.
