War on terror to continue till elimination of last terrorist: army chief

PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has reiterated the commitment that war against terror will continue till elimination of the last terrorist from the country.

Addressing a function at Army Public School, Peshawar on Friday in connection with 2nd anniversary of terrorist attack on the school, he said Pakistan will be made a peaceful country in accordance with the wishes of the father of nation Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Chief of Army Staff said the country will be made an Islamic welfare state in accordance with the wishes of our forefathers. He said the entire Pakistani nation, security forces and other state institutions are standing shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families. He said blood of every martyred student will be revenged.

A collective prayer was also offered for the martyred students and teachers of APS.

The Peshawar district administration had announced a public holiday in the provincial capital on Friday (Dec 16) to commemorate the second anniversary of the massacre at the Army Public School here.

In a notification, Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, Riaz Mehsud said all the public and private schools, colleges and universities in the provincial capital would remain closed to observe the death anniversary of the students and teachers massacred by Taliban militants on December 16, 2014.
