Winter returns to Karachi after rainy spell

KARACHI: The receding winter returned in the metropolis after rainfall as mercury dropped to 14-degree Celsius, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The Met Office has predicted that the cold winds from Balochistan could prevail in Karachi for next three days. The frosty winds from Quetta could bring the temperatures dropped in the port city.

The wind speed in the city could go as up as 40 kilometers per hour, according to the weather department.

Parts of Karachi on Friday received light to moderate rain as predicted by the MET office.

Most of the areas of the city including Gadap, Surjani Town, Taiser Town, Saddar, Old Town, Lyari, Scheme 33 and other areas received light to moderate rain.

The MET office also warned of a cold spike can in city after heavy rain.

On Thursday, the Sindh government announced a half-day in offices in Karachi on Friday amid the forecast of heavy rainfall in the port city.

In a post on X, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui said the decision for the half-day was taken as precaution.
