Witnesses record statement before commission on rigging

Former chief secretary Punjab Javed Iqbal and former additional chief secretary Rao Iftikhar today recorded their statement before the commission on rigging.

PTI’s counsel Abdul Hafiz Pirzada questioned Javed Iqbal and Rao Iftikhar whether the election commission had asked the then chief secretary for providing the services of 200 printing workers, which was admitted by both the former chief secretary and additional chief secretary that they were asked for this.

PMLN’s lawyer Shahid Hamid inquired Javed Iqbal how did Punjab bureaucracy tried to influence the elections in the province, at which the chief justice remarked that it is the commission to decide about organized rigging and barred Hamid from asking this question.

Javed Iqbal was also inquired by ECP’s counsel Salman Akram, following which former additional chief secretary Rao Iftikhar was also asked certain questions.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) presented the recording of a televised interview of Iftikhar in the courtroom as evidence.

After questioning of the two witnesses, the judicial commission adjourned the hearing till tomorrow at 11:30am.
