19-year-old mother gives birth to ‘world’s heaviest baby’

According to the Mirror, Nandini, 19, who goes only by her first name, welcomed her first child, a daughter, by caesarean section on Monday evening at a government-run hospital in Hassan in southern state Karnataka.

The average baby is born weighing 7.5lbs – making Nadini’s newborn female twice the size.

Dr Venkatesh Raju, the local health officer, said: “In my 25 years of experience, I had never seen such a big baby. She is a miracle.

“I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world.”

The yet-to-be named baby left everyone including her mother and medics in shock due her sheer size.

Nandini, who herself weighs 94 kg and stands 5’9 tall, had a smooth pregnancy throughout but was unaware she was about to give birth to a big baby.

In November last year, another Indian woman Firdous Khatun had given birth to the a baby boy weighing 14.77 lbs.
