He put on a 132-run partnership with veteran batter Steve Smith (71 off 68). The left-handed batter then joined hands with Marnus Labuschagne as they scored 84 on the third wicket.

His performance in the fixture was praised by fans and cricket experts. However, he made news in the 23rd over of Australia innings.

The International Cricket Council shared a video in which David Warner became an on-field umpire.

The Netherlands all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe caught the opening batter and began to celebrate. However, the cricketer signalled the umpire that the ball was grounded.

His suspicions were confirmed as replay showed the ball was grounded.
