KARACHI: A chained youngster who appeared in a viral video has been found by police, claiming that he was put in chains by the family to bar him from marrying an already married woman, ARY NEWS reported.
According to details, a video has gone viral showing a youngster being put in chains at a home in an unidentified location.
As soon as the video came to the notice of the police authorities, an investigation was launched to trace the whereabouts of the youngster.
Shah Latif police Saturday traced the location of the youngster and recovered him.
The police identified the man spotted in the video as 19-year-old Hamza and said that they found him chained after a raid was carried out to recover him near the Murgi Khana area of Malir.
“He was confined at his residence by parents in order to bar him from marrying an already married woman,” they said adding that the parents chained him in order to stop him from meeting the woman.
This is not the first such incident as recently, a man was arrested for allegedly keeping his 36-year-old sister locked in a room for the past two-and-a-half years in Karachi.
The case was reported from the Ranchore Line area.
According to a report, the female neighbours entered her house and then her room, the victim, Shaheen, was lying naked in the room that was nothing short of a garbage heap.
Thin and fragile, the 36-year-old looked nothing like her former self, and couldn’t even reply to her neighbours’ several queries, apparently out of fear of her brother Iqbal, who police say might have raped her multiple times.
