ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari expressed his well wishes to General Qamar Javed Bajwa on taking charge as Pakistan’s new army chief, ARY News reported.
Co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Zardari telephoned the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and congratulated him on taking charge of the world’s sixth large army.
He said that the nation is standing with the military against the Indian aggression at the Line of Control (LoC).
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah also telephoned COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa and congratulated him on becoming the new army chief.
Shah said that the political and military leadership will only rest after ending terrorism from the country.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa was appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan on Saturday.
Former army chief General Raheel Sharif handed over the baton of command to the new COAS during a colourful ceremony on Tuesday.
