Zardari says Musharraf does not intend to return to Pakistan

KARACHI: Former president Asif Zardari on Thursday said Chairman All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and former military ruler Pervez Musharraf did not intend to return to Pakistan, ARY News reported.

“The Commando will not return. Musharraf says he will participate in politics, while he does not return to the country. Then how will he do politics,” he asked while talking to media.

He said Musharraf, who did not provide them security, was himself feeling threatened now.

While, Pervez Musharraf has said that he was all set to return to Pakistan but the top court’s order forced him to change his mind.

He said the Supreme Court order barring the authorities from arresting him till his appearance before the court had forced him to rethink about his plan.

“There will be no benefit of my return to the country if I am arrested,” he said.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader said whenever a dictator rose to power in Pakistan he always attempted to sabotage democracy.

“Former military ruler Zia-ul-Haq had also thought that he will silence their voices by murdering Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Zardari also raised question over his assets worth billions of rupees. He said Musharraf admitted that he had abundance of wealth, however he had no answer to ‘from where did he get all this money’.

“When he is asked about his wealth, he replies that it was given to him by (former Saudi Arabian) king Abdullah, however he has got no evidence to establish his statement,” he said.
