KARACHI: The 91st birth anniversary of former prime minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is being observed today.
The PPP has planned various programmes to mark the birth anniversary of the founding leader with special prayers to be held at his grave in Garhi Khuda Bux, Larkana. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will cut cakes at separate events in Lahore and Islamabad, respectively.
Paying a rich tribute to his grandfather, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the PPP leadership and workers will take the mission, vision and philosophy of the party founder and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto forward.
He said his aim was to strictly adhere to Bhutto’s vision as well as enlighten people about his mission, political vision, bravery and ideology. “Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had a rich brain. Democracy ran in his blood. On the basis of his unparalleled vision he was able to give the country the first consensus Constitution.”
Former president Asif Ali Zardari, paying glowing tribute to Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, on his birth anniversary expressed his resolve to remain steadfast on the principles of “respect for humans and liberty” and to follow the slogan of “all powers to the people”.
Zardari said that Bhutto rebuilt the country which had been turned into ashes before he came to power. He gave the nation strength and gave voice to the downtrodden masses.
“Quaid-e-Awam loved his country especially the lower stratum of the society and accepted gallows but never left his people. PPP will continue to work according to its founder’s ideology and will continue to resist the anti-democratic elements in the country.”
