Rahman who has been called the ‘Mozart of Madras’ had low expectations from the film and thought that it would be boring as it was a period film and was about history. However, he said that he was pleasantly surprised when he watched the film.

“As for it being challenging, I think every time there is a new route, new inspiration, it opens up many factors which makes you change the way you think. It’s very hard to do the same thing — commercial movie again and again. A new thing, on the other hand, makes you excited and puts you on the edge rather than making you complacent,” he said.
Rahman also spoke about his long association with director Ashutosh Gowariker and said that he has tremendous patience and the ability to recognize melodies and great musical motifs. He said that Gowarikar likes to fight for things like Javed Akhtar and they have good association.
Rahman has also worked on Gowarikar’s films such as Lagaan, Swades and Jodha Akbar, and hopes that his music in Mohen Jodaro will also be appreciated.
