DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police repulsed a terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday in which a group of terrorists stormed a police station using modern weapons, ARY News reported.

Police said that the terrorists used modern weapons in the attack on the Hathala police station. They added that the timely response by the police officials forced the terrorists to flee from the scene.

Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Akhtar Hayat Khan appreciated the police officials for repulsing the fierce attack in DI Khan.

Police commenced a clearance operation in the area following the attack.

Yesterday, a policeman was martyred in an attack carried out by terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to police officials, the terrorists attacked police camp near the toll plaza Dera Ismail Khan.

A police spokesperson said that the exchange of fire continued for several hours followed by explosion sounds. At the time of attack, 15 to 20 personnel were inside the police camp, the spokesperson added.
